A Word About the Coral
TIA Woolly Mammoth Millepora is instantly recognizable
for its exceptionally long polyp extension. The extended polyps give the
colony a thick, shaggy appearance that resembles coarse wool, which is
exactly what gives this coral its “Woolly Mammoth” character.
The color contrast is equally striking. The coral shows a vivid red to
pink branch surface paired with long green polyps, creating a strong
red-and-green visual impact that is difficult to forget.
When fully extended, the combination of heavy texture and bold color
contrast gives this Millepora a very dramatic look in the reef tank.
It is an excellent choice for collectors who want a coral with both
standout polyp extension and memorable coloration.
Care Requirements
Lighting
Moderate to High PAR (250–400). Strong blue-spectrum reef lighting helps
enhance the red branch coloration and highlight the long green polyps.
Water Flow
Moderate to Strong, turbulent flow. Randomized circulation supports
healthy tissue growth, keeps the coral clean, and encourages strong
polyp extension.
Placement
Best placed in the upper half of a mature reef aquarium where stable water
parameters, strong lighting, and consistent flow support SPS coral growth.
