Since 2008, TIA Collection Corals has served reef keepers from Deer Park, New York. We offer healthy, fairly priced corals that make reefing easier to start, alongside rare corals and more than 100 named lineages for serious collectors. Today, TIA serves hobbyists locally and nationwide.

TIA Collection Corals is the coral department and online brand of Tropical Island Aquarium, a Long Island saltwater aquarium store serving local reef keepers since 2008. TIA Coral and tiacoral are short names for the same coral brand.

Across the store, approximately 4,000 gallons of established saltwater systems support coral grow-out, display, fish, and invertebrate holding. This scale lets the team maintain approachable everyday corals and rare collector pieces at the same location.

By 2010, local reef hobbyists were already discussing the store online for its coral selection and competitive prices. More than a decade later, those same qualities continue to appear in customer reviews: healthy livestock, clean systems, broad selection, fair coral pricing, and practical guidance.

Xenia and Green Star Polyps

If you ask what TIA loves most, we say Xenia and Green Star Polyps. For TIA, and for almost every hobbyist, they are the simplest and purest way to start a reef. That is why the connection to them has always run the deepest.

Second answer

The Corals That Challenge Us

Ask again and the answer is the most demanding corals in our systems, pieces like the Rainbow Glitter Goniopora and the TIA Show Maker Speciosa Acropora. A coral like that can still make a heart that has been reefing for nearly twenty years beat harder.

The challenge pushes us to keep refining how we grow coral, and to understand the subtle relationships between lighting, flow, water parameters, pest control, and the condition of the coral itself. It is how we study this hobby more deeply and more thoroughly.

Third answer

The Quiet Ones

Ask a third time and the answer is a little-known species few people recognize, or a coral whose colors are not the brightest but whose character is unmistakable: certain smooth-skin Acropora, or a bounce mushroom. These pieces sit closest to TIA's own taste.

A Deliberately Narrow Path

Over the years we have kept searching for, collecting, and growing the corals we genuinely love. Some are classics every reef keeper knows. Others stay in the collection simply because we felt they deserved to be kept.

TIA Coral has always followed a relatively niche path. We have never tried to please every taste, and we have never hyped a big-name coral for its own sake.

The next chapter

Why TIA Expanded Online

For years, TIA spent more time maintaining its systems and building the collection than talking about itself online.

In the summer of 2025, TIA began expanding its local foundation into a nationwide online brand. The goals were clear: make beginner-friendly corals more accessible, bring more of the rare collection to reef keepers across the country, and share long-term experience in a more organized way.

Going online allowed more people to access what had previously been available mainly to local customers.

TIA Collection Corals is run by a team in Deer Park, New York, with dedicated people for curation, husbandry, photography, packing, and customer service. Every step between a coral in our systems and a coral in your tank has someone responsible for it, and each step is handled seriously and professionally.

We have been fortunate. Over a long stretch of years, more and more reef keepers found something in TIA that resonated with them, and that support let the team grow. One principle has not changed as it grew: get every small thing steady before getting bigger.
