A Word About the Coral

TIA Midas Touch Tenuis stands out for its exceptionally rich golden coloration. The colony develops bright yellow-gold tones that give it an intense, glowing appearance in the reef tank. What makes it even more distinctive is its contrasting red polyp extension. When fully extended, the red fuzzy polyps spread throughout the branches and create a warm, fiery contrast against the golden body.

The combination of heavy gold coloration and red polyps makes this coral easy to recognize, even in a densely packed SPS collection.

Care Requirements

Lighting

Moderate to High PAR (250–400). Strong blue-spectrum reef lighting helps enhance the golden body coloration and highlight the red polyps.

Water Flow

Moderate to Strong, turbulent flow. Randomized circulation supports healthy tissue growth, keeps the coral clean, and encourages natural polyp extension.

Placement

Best placed in the upper half of a mature reef aquarium where stable parameters, strong lighting, and consistent water movement support SPS growth.

Water Parameters

  • Temperature: 76–79°F
  • Salinity: 1.025–1.026
  • Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH
  • Calcium: 400–450 ppm
  • Magnesium: 1300–1400 ppm

Reef Compatibility

Reef safe. Recommended for aquarists experienced with SPS husbandry.
