TIA Signature Chromaflair: A Grafted Acropora Grown From Three Branches
Share
The TIA Signature Chromaflair mother colony — the coral your frag is cut from — under Actinic Radion Mobius lighting. Colors shift under different lighting; each piece is cut to order.
What is TIA Signature Chromaflair?
TIA Signature Chromaflair is a grafted Acropora that TIA grew from just three original branches into a full collector colony. Its grafted tissue layers several colors across one coral, and those color zones keep shifting as the colony grows — no two seasons look quite the same.
The story: three branches to a collector colony
The grafting is what makes it. TIA grew this colony from just three original branches, and over years of growth the distinct color zones developed into the intense grafting patterns it carries today. Those grafted colors continue to evolve — different periods reveal slightly different color balances.
The colony has come through power outages, pest pressure, and years of growth in TIA's legacy display system — and kept its color the whole way. That track record is why dedicated SPS collectors have driven long distances for a single frag off this mother colony. Every piece released is hand-fragged from it for a limited run.
What "grafted" actually means
Grafting means multiple color genotypes have fused into one coral. Most Acropora hold one base color with contrasting tips; a grafted piece like Chromaflair carries several distinct color zones on a single skeleton, and the boundaries between them move as new growth encrusts. It is the difference between a solid strain and a living multi-color mosaic — and it is why grafted Acropora sit at the top of most SPS collectors' want-lists.
Care requirements
TIA Signature Chromaflair is an advanced SPS — best for aquarists already comfortable with Acropora husbandry.
| Parameter | Target |
|---|---|
| Lighting (PAR) | 250–400 PAR, strong blue-spectrum reef lighting |
| Flow | Moderate-to-strong, turbulent, randomized |
| Placement | Upper half of a mature reef aquarium |
| Temperature | 76–79 °F |
| Salinity | 1.025–1.026 |
| Alkalinity | 8–9 dKH |
| Calcium | 400–450 ppm |
| Magnesium | 1300–1400 ppm |
Stable parameters matter more than chasing peak numbers — Acropora reward consistency and punish swings.
Buying a Chromaflair frag
Every piece is cut to order from the mother colony. After we cut your frag, we send you a video of it, and we recommend allowing about 14 days of heal time before expecting full recovery. Every order is covered by TIA's 3-day live-arrival guarantee, and TIA has grown and named collector corals since 2008.

Frequently asked questions
How much light does TIA Chromaflair need? It colors best under moderate-to-high light, roughly 250–400 PAR. Strong blue-spectrum reef lighting brings out the grafted coloration and keeps the colony vibrant.
Is TIA Chromaflair beginner-friendly? No — it is an advanced SPS, best for aquarists already experienced with SPS husbandry. It wants stable parameters: 76–79 °F, salinity 1.025–1.026, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1300–1400 ppm.
What flow and placement does TIA Chromaflair want? Moderate-to-strong, turbulent, randomized flow. Place it in the upper half of a mature reef aquarium where lighting is strong and parameters stay stable.
What does "grafted" mean for this Acropora? Grafting means multiple color genotypes have fused into one coral. TIA grew this colony from three original branches; the fused color zones create its multi-color look and keep evolving as it grows.
